Sparsh from materiality to the center of making

This academic work by Siddharth Sharma, was a part of the studio ‘Re-imagining the Vernacular Past’. The studio was an attempt to study the vernacular furniture of Gujarat and Rajasthan and understand the shift in the way these furniture types are perceived within the urban context. By developing a new perception and imaginary contextualization, students designed an immersive experiential exhibition. The theme of this curated exhibition was to perceive furniture beyond a piece of utility. By realising the beauty that lies in the process of making, it’s time to look at the diverse use of material involved in the making of furniture.
