Vernacular Furniture of Gujarat – Newsletter 2

This issue presents the findings from the second field visit in Gujarat. Fieldwork was conducted in the regions of East Gujarat. The team travelled 850 kilometres in Chotta Udepur, Dahod, Panchmahal, Narmada and Udaipur districts, and visited 10 places. A total of 98 vernacular furniture items were mapped and around five craftspeople were approached to understand the making and craft techniques. The places visited were: Antila, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Devgadh Baria, Ghoghamba, Jodavaat, Kharod,  Limkheda, Mangal Mahudi, and Rajpipla.
