Soodshastra – Art of cooking

This academic work by Jasoda Bhansali, was a part of the studio ‘Re-imagining the Vernacular Past’. The studio was an attempt to study the vernacular furniture of Gujarat and Rajasthan and understand the shift in the way these furniture types are perceived within the urban context. By developing a new perception and imaginary contextualization, students designed an immersive experiential exhibition. Showcased as four sections of Sagrahaka, Utpan, Paak, and Zayka, this work focused on curating vernacular furniture pieces that are used for cooking and eating in the culinary practices of Rajasthan.
