In the Mewat region of Haryana, takhat are exchanged between the bride and the groom’s families as part of the wedding rituals. These takhat, recorded in the same house, had metal embellishments on the surfaces of the frame. The legs were made of turned wood and finished with a combination of lacquer and paint. The seat was clad with coloured laminate sheets.
