Except for the Nardak region, a shelf is called a taand or tandi in all other regions of Haryana. This taand, built into the wall of a vernacular house in Dhoj village, was used to display crockery. A gold-coloured plastic sheet was cut into patterns and placed on the surface of the taand, both as a functional and decorative feature.
