Apart from the latch on the shutter, this sandook had a secret locking mechanism which was provided at the top. It was made of two bolts which held the door from the top and could be released by lifting a chain mechanism from the outside. There were four smaller compartments on the bottom row, each with an openable shutter that had worn out and been removed.
