A low seat is also known as patta in some regions of Haryana. This patta was used to sit while making ropes for the webbing of khaat (charpoy) and pidda (stool). A low seat can be moved around the house easily because it is light in weight; the women carry it to the verandah and sit in groups with the neighbours while making the ropes.
