Manja is a charpoy raised up on turned or carved wooden legs fixed to a frame, around which the webbing is woven. This charpoy was placed along the street in a market area in Amritsar. Commissioned as a piece of community furniture, this was used by the locals to sit and rest during the day. It was around three times the size of a commonly found manja.
