A charpoy is known as manja in the Nardak and Bagad regions of Haryana which border onto Punjab. This manja, with carved legs of heavy girth, belonged to the present owner’s mother. It was passed on, as an heirloom, to the son after her death. One of the turned legs had been replaced recently with a simple chisel-shaped one.
