A khaat, minimal in its ornamentation, was recorded in the courtyard of a house placed near the chulha (hearth). On its bahi made of bamboo, a white cloth was tied to make a jhula; a makeshift cradle for children to sleep. This setup was used by the women of the family to take care of the child while cooking food.
