A mortar and pestle is an ubiquitous object in the kitchens and is used to grind or crush spices while cooking food. It is called by different names in different parts of Haryana. In the Nardka, Khadar and Bagad regions, the pestle is called danda and the mortar is called kunda. This danda was made of turned wood and the kunda was made of stone.
