A chhaj is another common object used across Punjab, because of the extent of agriculture as an occupation. Like several other objects, a chhaj is also used for everyday purposes and to gift in weddings. The ones used for everyday purposes are made of straw or stalk of wheat or paddy. The stalks are tied together using thin leather strips creating decorative patterns on its surface.
