The main parts of charkha are the wheel, handle and spindle which are fixed to a frame that also forms the base. Raw cotton is fed onto the spindle which gets spun into threads on the wheel by rotating it with the help of the handle. A curved end was provided on the handle of this charkha to place the index finger with ease while it is being operated.
