Aliya is a wall niche built into the wall during the construction of the built spaces. Situated in the verandah beside the main entrance door, this aliya had a protruding base supported by a stone carved bracket shaped like a peacock. Wall niches like this one were used to place oil lamps which were lit during the evenings.
