With continuous supply of electricity becoming more common in the towns and cities, the use of an aala to place lamps has changed based on the needs of the user. This aala, previously intended to keep earthen lamps, was used as a shrine. A picture of the saint Sai Baba, a figure of Lord Ganesh, along with a metal lamp and small containers filled with vermillion were placed inside.
