When water supply was limited to hand pumps or wells in the villages, women would go to fetch water in groups. They would carry pots and pitchers on their head with indi used as supports. The women would make the indi themselves using a variety of embroidery and craft techniques. This indi was decorated with a gold-coloured lace and threads wrapped around it.
